Universities and research funders have a strong interest in ensuring that the results of the research that they support are made available for use by the widest possible audience, with minimal time delays. One of the main methods used to support this interest is the deposit of articles into online repositories. Letter to COAR from the Tohoku University Library of behalf of DRF
Dear members of COAR,
We are deeply grateful for your kind inquiry after the Tohoku-Kanto earthquake which occurred on March 11. As reported in the media, being the largest earthquake ever recorded in Japan, it caused widespread damage itself and resulted in the tsunami that reportedly killed more than 9,000 people, mainly in Tohoku and Kanto area. Library facilities and holdings in the area have been also greatly affected. It will take a long time to recover fully. Continue reading
