In 2024, COAR will be transitioning its operations from the COAR e.V. to the Stichting COAR.

COAR was founded in 2009 and has been hosted by Göttingen Library in Germany. We are greatly appreciative of the support we have received by Göttingen Library, without which, COAR would not have been able to thrive during these years. However, as COAR has matured, it became apparent that the organization needed to become less reliant on a single member host organization, and take greater responsibility for the legal and administrative aspects of the organization. In addition, the language and administrative requirements for not-for-profits in Germany was very challenging for a relatively small organization like COAR.

We are looking forward to continue the important work of COAR with our members and partners.
